• Headteacher at Thorpedene Primary School & Nursery
• BA Hons in Primary Education 
• Over 20 years experience in schools in Southend 
• I am committed to ensuring the best interests of every child are the heart of our school and to ensuring that every child is nurtured and challenged to achieve their true potential 

  Laura Crow - Chair of Academy Committee

• Parent of three children (all within SECAT) 
• Over ten year's experience within Further Education providing information, advice and guidance for young adults and adults. 
• Previous experience of working alongside external agencies within the community for the benefit of the student/public. 
• My aim is to encourage the growth of diversity within education and beyond. "Every child is a different kind of flower and together they make a beautiful garden". 
• I believe childhood aspirations within a primary school setting are an important driver for achievement later in life. 

  Motunrayo Fakorede - Vice Chair of Academy Committee

• I work in Child Protection.  I started my career in the Youth Offending Team.  I have previous work experience in schools as a Learning Mentor and Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• I have BA in Criminology, MA in Youth Justice and MA in Social Work.
• I enjoy reading, running and spending quality time with my family.
• I am passionate about working with families to enhance children’s learning.  I also want to promote children’s participation in key decisions about their learning.

  Joanna Galley - Staff Governor

• I have worked at Thorpedene Primary School & Nursery for 8 years and have been a Staff Governor since November 2024.
• Working within the school community enables me to bring firsthand knowledge of the day-to-day experiences of staff, pupils and parents.
• I am committed to supporting the school’s vision, values and ongoing development which creates a positive, inclusive environment where every child can thrive and succeed.

  Jackie Walder - Parent Governor

• I started my career as a nursery nurse working in a catholic school for the London Borough of Redbridge.  After a few years, I decided to become a primary school teacher.  I qualified with a BA Hons in Early Childhood Studies and continued as a primary school teacher working for the London Borough of Havering for 14 years.   I then decided to become a full time mum.
• After seven years our family moved to Southend-on-Sea where I joined and became a member of the PTA at Thorpedene Primary School and Shoeburyness High School.
• I believe that every child should work in a happy, safe and healthy environment.   This should equate to happy teachers that have passion for what they believe in and hopefully you will have happy parents.
